Counting Down

Just 7 weeks to go until the release of Trouble Down The Road. This novel addresses family loyalty, deceit, and secrets. To that end, do you feel that parents should encourage their children who've "made it" to assist their siblings who haven't? If so, to what degree?

I wouldn't let any of my siblings be homeless but I wouldn't let them take advantage of me either. I'm not sure if you've ever watched Fantasia's Reality Show. Her brother is a prime example of someone abusing his sister's status. He doesn't work but wants to drive a car that costs over 6 figures.

I think a little help every now and then is okay, but it shouldn't be automatic thing. My brother was/is very successful, but I know he thought we thought he was an ATM. At some point, he had to put the brakes on and make decisions as to what he really needed to help out with. I stopped asking him for money but he's still very generous when he wants to be. (BTW, I got my ARC, but I put it down in the house and now I can't find it! :) It'll turn up soon enough.)
