Great Midwest Bookfest 2009

The organizers, Urban Reviews, did a fabulous job of organizing this inaugural book event, and they proved that Milwaukee is full of readers and book buyers. There was something for everybody: Romance and women's fiction, Christian fiction, nonfiction, young adult, plus a bookseller (Cultural Connection) had a table selling biographies and other categories. The ambience was wonderful, with soft jazz playing in the background and comfortable lighting (and the bar was open!). Everyone who purchased a book received a gift bag. A very special moment was the brief period of silence we all observed in memory of the gifted writer E. Lynn Harris, who had passed away the day before.

A few photos from the afternoon (you can see more photos at these publicly available pages of Facebook):

event the success it was.
