My Latest Progress Report

I wonder: Is it possible to write an entire novel just in the time it takes me to drive to work and on weekend errands? That's when I've been dictating most of my text.

And since I finally cracked 30,000 words, I ain't doing half bad.

Ditto what Gwyneth said.

What's a writer's favorite two words? THE END lol

You're getting closer and closer to the end that's what matters. :)

Funny you should ask! When I was carpooling, I couldn't wait to have an Alphasmart. Now that I'm not carpooling, I've been thinking about investing in voice recorder. Because I can spend as much as 2.5-3 hrs per day in the car, depending on traffic and weather.

I'm betting you write the entire first draft this way. You're definitely one of my writing heros!

First draft, Patricia! Yikes! I know there are writers who do more than one draft, but fortunately I'm not one of them. The books the consumer reads are simply polished versions of my first draft. I've been fortunate in that I've never had to throw out a whole lot of material unless I decide there's a better way to tell it. This might be one reason why I write slower than many of my counterparts.

I lucked out and got my recorder on a clearance table at Staples for 9 bucks. If you do get one and you notice it suddenly stops recording, check to see if you might have accidentally slid the Pause button in place.
